Overcoming Obstacles

I woke up last night at 2:00 a.m. and could not get back to sleep. I was thinking about Holly and what parts of my plot I need to scrap and what will take its place. At 03:30 a.m. I decided to just get up and set the time line out.  Apart from the school run I’ve been sat at the table ever since.

I’ve cut out some of the parts which come across as a little unbelievable. I asked myself – would that really happen? If not then what would happen? I have added two extra characters and story that goes with them.  I have set it out neatly in a table I created in WORD!  I have printed it out and highlighted all of the positives in green and all of the obstacles to Holly’s goals in yellow. This has given me a good indication at a glance of how the plot goes. I am feeling a renewed sense of energy with it now. I will continue to freewrite for ten minutes a day on the list of new scenes I have created. When I feel I have enough substance I will resume the rewrite.

In the meantime, I’ve decided to do some research! Read a few books. My hero ‘yummy Mitch’ is a widower and I have just found a Mills and Boon on the shelf with a widower in it – a Christmas present stuck on the shelf for about ten years! I’ll read it and see how it is dealt with.  As it is a bit chilly I’m going to do my housework and then snuggle up with a book and a cuppa! I’ll have to set the alarm though for the school run considering I have been awake since 2:00 a.m. I may snooze off!

Hope you have a great day….keeeeeeeeeeep writing 😊
